Child and Family Therapy

I have been working with children and families for over 25 years and continue to find it incredibly rewarding. Being able to offer positive, impactful guidance and support during these formative years has been one of the highlights of my career as a psychologist.

When working with clients, I begin by exploring and helping to clarify what their goals for therapy are.  Together we work to assess where they are in their own life development and create a treatment plan to best suit their temperament, inclinations, strengths and weaknesses, and developmental make up.

Because all individuals are unique I believe it’s incredibly important to have an Integral approach in therapy – so that clients can be met where they’re at, and therapy can be specifically tailored to their individual needs.

Some of the interventions I commonly use are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Work, Developmental Psychology, Mindfulness Practices, Depth Psychology, Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Awareness, as well as a variety of other well-established therapeutic approaches.

Work with Adults and Couples

Social Detective Academy

In addition to therapy, I have been running and supervising social/emotional therapy groups for children for the last two and a half decades.

I am the author of the book Diary of a Social Detective and the upcoming book Social Detective Academy. These books offer both fun social/emotional learning as well as a detailed protocol for increasing social/emotional aptitude in youth.

I am also the co-founder of the organization Social Detective Academy which offers social/emotional training to children, families, and organizations. Social Detective Academy has run summer camps and individual groups, and has provided ongoing education and consultation to schools and organizations.
